Dr. Abdalla Idris AliDr. Abdalla Idris Ali is a well-known North American Muslim public speaker, imam, and community leader. Shaykh Abdalla’s academic background combines both International Relations from the University of Toronto, where he completed a Ph.D. as well as his Islamic knowledge in the areas of Tafseer, Shariah, and counselling.
As a community leader, he founded the first full-time Islamic school (ISNA Islamic Community School) in North America, where he served as principal for seventeen years and was integral in implementing Islamic and Arabic studies syllabuses for elementary and junior high students. He also has served on ISNA’s Executive Council, Majlis Ash-Shura, Youth and Education Committee and as president of ISNA for two terms. He is the chair of the Islamic Media Foundation, a member of the NAIT Board, a founding member of CISNA, and chair of ISNA Education Forum. Shaykh Abdalla was appointed director for CIENA in Kansas City, Missouri and served on the board of trustees of IBERR, which helps minority communities. He is currently working as the Senior Community and Religious Advisor of ISNA Canada. |
